Il bitter, nato negli anni '20 grazie all'ingegno di due fratelli, è considerato l'ingrediente principe del cocktail. E ha una lunga storia piena di aneddoti. Come quello che vuole D'Annunzio come inventore del nome. Non si conosce il suo inventore, ma è molto interessante l’etichetta che ricorda le origini lagunari dell’aperitivo essendo stato prodotto sull’isola di Murano, famosa sopratutto per i suoi vetri. Sull’etichetta blu, oggi proposta, è riprodotto un “ferro di prua” tipico delle gondole veneziane. Questo serve a bilanciare il peso del gondoliere, mentre la sua forma è carica di simbolismi. Le sei barrette in avanti simboleggiano i quartieri di Venezia, l’archetto il Ponte di Rialto e la sua forma sinuosa il Canal Grande. L’unica barretta sul retro di esso, più lunga, rappresenta il Doge. Ma l’etichetta del Select non è sempre stata così. L’aperitivo fu acquistato dalla Pilla di Bologna, con sedi anche a Venezia, che lo produsse per lungo tempo con buon successo. Lo Spritz
